I have a 1985 merc 150 xr2 black max. The over heating horn is sounding off when it is up on plane. Thermostats are new as well as the impeller. I ran it with the thermostats out and the cover off and had lots of water coming out of both sides with the motor on. Tell tale is streaming water. I am wondering if it is the sensor?Motor is a 1987 150 Mercury Black Max XR2 edition. Motor was gone through in the spring with a full tuneup. Great compression and just put in two new thermostats, rebuilt the poppet valve and put all new seals in the lower leg for maintenance sake. Disconnect it and set the timing in the water where it will idle at about 750 rpm in gear.
