Dealership says it is covered under the #16-NA-32 Bulletin on common engine noises Duramax 6.6L, but this is not the ticking or cycling that I have heard on my previous Duramax. I have a 2008 LMM on an 8 inch lift. I blew my factory driveshaft out a couple months ago so I took it in and got a custom one made longer. The new one has a loud ticking noise whenever I start from a stop. Everything is tight, ujoints are brand new. Buddy said it was normal, just wanted some other opinions or how I can quiet or stop it.

It is not the typical ticking noise. It is a thumping noise and it is supposedly caused by the fanbelt. On the 2020 there are two belts now and the fan is by itself. I have an 01 duramax that I recently replaced headgaskets in. Shortly after the headgasket job a ticking noise appeared. I think it sounds like a lifter ticking. Possibly a lifter loosened up a little after it has been running. A friend of mine disagrees. He says it is injectors ticking because they are bad. I have no other symptoms.
